Ed and I felt an immediate kinship with Heather and Brandon. They are basically a younger, cuter version of us! Heather is an ecologist, and the guys had to stop us girls from talking scienc-y things all day. On the other hand, Brandon works in the tech field, like Ed, and they could have lengthened the day with their own conversation. They have the same ideals we do and hold fast to love, marriage and family. Their courthouse wedding was simple, romantic, and the perfect representation of their relationship.
You'd think a relationship between a doctor and a lawyer would bring a lot of stress, formality, or meticulousness into life, or maybe even all three! But Claire and Andrew are the exact opposite. Though she is a doctor and he is a lawyer, they are more casual than reserved, relaxed instead of stiff, and easygoing rather than demanding. They are professional when they need to be, but they also know when to leave the stress behind and have a great time! Their University Club wedding brought out the best in them both, and they smiled and laughed their way through a beautiful, perfect day that mirrored their relationship.
Today is Ed's birthday! So we're celebrating with his very favorite go-to cocktail, the Jack and Coke. For this month's installment of our AHP Cocktail Series, we're also sharing my choice, the Pimm's Cup. We've added the word "winning" to it because our dance Nationals will be later this month! If you missed our first recipe, or want a refresher of why we do this in the first place, make sure you check out March’s Cocktail Recipes. And don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter! Our subscribers always get email reminders when these posts go live, and I always try to include a little something extra just for you.
Hannah wanted an English garden feel to her wedding, and I can say with complete confidence that she got it! Her and AJ's Dixon Gardens wedding was filled to the brim with flowers, sunshine, plants, and a classic, sophisticated vibe... just like an English garden! They could not have chosen a better date or location for their gorgeous day. Sit back and relax, ya'll, cuz this is gonna be a long one!
Wow, it's May already? This year is flying by! A new month means it’s time to share the next monthly installment in our AHP Cocktail Series! I know we just shared April's recipes last week, but we wanted to make sure to share this month before Cinco de Mayo! We have great selections if you're hosting a party. If you missed our first recipe, or want a refresher of why we do this in the first place, make sure you check out March’s Cocktail Recipes. And don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter! It's almost the end of the month, so you know what that means! It's time to share the next monthly installment in our AHP Cocktail Series! Anne-Sophie and Dalton have been in a long-distance relationship for most of the time they've been together. They are also both medical students, so free time is rare and precious. These two know bestt how to make the most of every minute that they are in the same city. They squeeze in visits when they can, and they make every second count, even if it's just sitting on the couch binge watching the latest Netflix show. We were so happy that we could find a time to get them together in Memphis for their engagement session, and we loved watching them soak up every minute together!
Ed and I are always so uplifted when we shoot weddings that are simply classic and clearly all about the marriage. This beautiful silvery blue winter wedding at the Cadre was definitely one of those! Alicia and Charles are so in love. They are a gentle, quiet couple, and to watch them together is to know that they will be making each other happy for a very long time. From their sweet First Look to the way they sought out each other for a quiet moment during their festive reception, it was obvious that they are right at home in this new family that they have built together.
If we're friends (and I hope we are!), you already know that cocktail hour is a big deal for us. For Ed and me, happy hour is more than just drinks. It's a state of mind. It's almost always a daily Mon-Fri thing, so it's inherently tied to the work day. But it represents the end of the work day. It's a time to gather with friends and revel in relaxation, if only for an hour. It means that we survived another daily grind, and now it's time to let go of the stress, shake it off, and prepare ourselves to kick butt yet again tomorrow. We believe that everyone deserves an hour a day to rest and unwind.
Every year, Ed and I take an adults-only couples' trip with our best friends. We accidentally started this tradition with a quick weekend getaway to Nashville, but we've put more thought into it in the years that followed. This year was our fifth annual trip. We decided on Charleston for our destination, and Ed and I were so excited to finally get a chance to tour this city together.
