{sherri & nathan: joined}

September 3, 2010

A month before high school graduation, Nathan got Sherri’s number when a mutual friend used Nathan’s phone to send a text to Sherri. This mutual friend ended up telling Nathan all about Sherri, and even showed him a photo. Nathan liked what he saw, and decided to keep the number stored in his phone. Good thing he did, because he used it later to ask Sherri out, and they have been inseparable ever since. So, technically, Sherri and Nathan are high school sweethearts, if only just barely.

Nathan and Sherri just fit. There’s simply no other way to describe it. The air is lighter around them, and they both glow when they have the other in their sights. Even though they’ve been together for 4 years, they still act as though they are newly in love.

Nathan was a happy, relaxed groom, and looking oh-so-good in his brown and blue tux. Sherri had an extra special glow on her wedding day. The girl could not stop smiling! She was grinning the entire day.

Just look at the anticipation on Sherri’s face. I love the little intimate moment a bride shares with her dad right before being walked down the aisle.
ah_sherri_joined_10

And Nathan’s reaction? Tears of joy and love.

The maid of honor looks on in admiration and emotion…

ah_sherri_joined_15

But it can’t match the look of love that Sherri has, just moments away from being Nathan’s wife.

ah_sherri_joined_16

After the ceremony, we had a few minutes to capture some photos of the new Mr. & Mrs.

ah_sherri_joined_18

The bride and groom left for their reception amid a storm of bubbles, and they couldn’t have been happier than in this moment.

ah_sherri_joined_17

The reception was held at Grover’s Corner, in Cleveland, MS. A few detail shots…

ah_sherri_joined_21

Anne Taylor did an incredible job with the cakes. The bride’s cake was lovely, and perfectly detailed.

ah_sherri_joined_22

But the groom’s cake stole the show! Nathan is an avid guitar player, and this cake was a masterpiece. No one wanted to cut it!

The new Mr. & Mrs.!

A tender moment during the First Dance…

ah_sherri_joined_25

This kid could dance. Like, dude. Watch out, So You Think You Can Dance.

ah_sherri_joined_26

The bride and groom weren’t too shabby on the dance floor, either.

ah_sherri_joined_27

I’ll end with this shot that captures the festivities of the night perfectly.

Congratulations, Sherri & Nathan! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day. Cheers!

{andrea: bridal shoot}

August 27, 2010

Some of you long-time fans (anyone? anyone?) might remember Andrea & Todd’s engagement shoot. Because they were getting married in Gatlinburg, I was unable to shoot their wedding. However, Andrea wanted a bridal shoot so that she could have an enlarged photo for her reception. She came all the way to Memphis from Oxford so that we could explore the Shelby Farms grounds in her wedding gown.

Now that she is happily married, I can post these lovely photos!

ah_andrea_joined_1

ah_andrea_joined_2

Andrea’s mom came with her, and she was determined to get some shots with these lily pads in the background. I’m glad she was!

ah_andrea_joined_3

Andrea is a very natural girl, so this setting was perfect for her bridal photos.

Congratulations on your marriage, Adrea! I wish you and Todd all the best. Cheers!

For weddings, I always list the bride’s name first. Always. A wedding is all about the bride, right? My job is to follow the bride around for the duration of her special day and make sure I capture how beautiful she is. And snap a few photos of the groom if I have time! I’m kidding, of course. Mostly.

Marianne was a gorgeous bride, and made my job super easy. She was glowing and excited, and her laughter was contagious. Everyone around her had a great time.

The day began at the Memphis Hilton, where the ladies were getting ready for the big event.

Mom helped buckle the shoes.

ah_mm_joined4

See? Gorgeous. Does anyone else see a little Marilyn Monroe here?

ah_mm_joined5

The wedding was held in an airplane hangar, and we used the backdrop for some cool wedding party photos. These girls knew how to do sass!

ah_mm_joined6

I just love calla lilies. Le sigh…

ah_mm_joined7

Michael was pretty dapper himself, and just as excited as Marianne. I love an excited groom!

ah_mm_joined8

He and they guys had started partying early. My kind of wedding!

ah_mm_joined9

Michael and Marianne had agreed to do their first look before the ceremony. I just love it when I can capture photos like this!

ah_mm_joined10

ah_mm_joined11

We were then able to take advantage of the grounds for some uber unique wedding photos.

Time to get down to business…

Mr. and Mrs!

The hangar was decorated to the nines. I bet the airplanes never get it this good!

These just make me happy.

ah_mm_joined27

I’ll end with this sweet one of the first dance. Marianne’s face says it all.

ah_mm_joined28

Congratulations, Marianne and Michael! Thank you for letting me share your special day. Cheers!

{troublesome to-do list}

July 20, 2010

I am a last minute kinda gal. I work well under pressure. I always get my stuff done, but I don’t always do it in the most orderly fashion. So, in an effort to make my life more organized, I started this massive to-do list. And it keeps growing! This thing is the monster of to-do lists. You know what else? I add completed items to it, just so that I can see that coveted checkmark on paper. Oh yeah, babe. That’s right. At least it looks like I’m getting my stuff done!

I am attacking my to-do list with a vengeance. One of the listed items is to blog my unblogged photo shoots. Um. Yeah. Well, I’m not quite that ready yet. But here’s a sneak peek of Marianne and Michael’s wedding, coming soon to a blog post near you!

ah_mm_joined17a

Here’s to staying organized. And being okay with it when you’re not. Cheers!

Ok, here we go. Be forewarned: there are 70 photos to follow. And these are just a tiny portion of all the photos I took! Most of you know how terrified I was to do this, but it turned out that I had a BLAST! Thank you, bro, for trusting me with your mostest important pics!

A few I took of the bride and groom separately the weekend before the wedding…

ah_jb1

ah_jb2

Beth cannot take a bad photo to save her life. You just point the camera at her and she’s immediately perfect!

ah_jb3

ah_jb4

ah_jb5

ah_jb6

Naturally, these ones at the bar are my absolute fave!

ah_jb7

My dear brother…

ah_jb8

ah_jb9

John is a car enthusiast, and this Mustang is his baby…

ah_jb10

ah_jb11

ah_jb12

ah_jb13

ah_jb14

ah_jb15

Their darling son Dylan at the rehearsal…

ah_jb16

Remember what I said about just pointing the camera at her? Grrr…

ah_jb18

A celebratory scotch…

ah_jb17

Getting ready on the big day…

ah_jb19

ah_jb20

ah_jb21

ah_jb22

Dylan and my Alex were ringbearers. Alex was pretty nervous!

ah_jb23

The wedding was in the bride’s mother’s backyard, which was transformed into a scene from the beach, complete with boardwalk…

ah_jb23a

Mother of the bride was also matron of honor…

ah_jb24

ah_jb25

For a few minutes there, I was a little worried about John…

ah_jb27

But then he assured me that he was ok…

ah_jb28

Love mom in the background of these. How she stood up there and did not cry through the whole thing, I have no idea!

ah_jb29

ah_jb30

ah_jb31

ah_jb32

They had the coolest sand ceremony that they did instead of a unity candle. Beach wedding, after all!

ah_jb33

Alex was not a happy camper after his part was done…

ah_jb34

Mr. and Mrs. Tiftickjian! Beth danced down the boardwalk to “Another One Bites the Dust.”

ah_jb35

A kiss from mom…

ah_jb36

The dads are now family…

ah_jb37

ah_jb38

ah_jb39

The happy couple!

ah_jb40

ah_jb41

Seriously the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen…

ah_jb42

ah_jb43

ah_jb44

ah_jb45

ah_jb46

He’s my son, so I had to get a few of him :)

ah_jb47

The best man made his toast with an entire bottle of Wild Turkey, the drink of choice for him and the groom…

ah_jb48

Beth was a sport and held her drink high, even when Colin was telling her that she had to cook for John every night…

ah_jb49

My absolute favorite of my brother…

ah_jb50

I could tell they were both considering a cake fight…

ah_jb51

But they saved it for the groom’s cake!

ah_jb52

They did the traditional crossed arm champagne, then looked at each other with twinkling eyes. John said “1, 2, 3!” and they both chugged the whole glass. They are so cute together!

ah_jb53

How perfect is this light for the first dance??

ah_jb54

Dylan didn’t like being left out, so he kicked sand on them as they danced…

ah_jb55

ah_jb56

To me, this picture sums up the feelings of every father of the bride on her wedding day. You can just see his wish for her future in his eyes…

ah_jb57

ah_jb58

Beth’s brother couldn’t stay out of the cocktail umbrellas…

ah_jb59

This is how John got Dylan to smile…

ah_jb60

So that I could catch this…

ah_jb61

And this…

ah_jb62

I talked Beth into one more pose before she changed out of her wedding dress…

ah_jb63

I love these photos of John, his best man, and his bro-in-law (my hubby), because they are so goofy, and that is so THEM!

ah_jb64

ah_jb65

Love the cigar smoke in this one…

ah_jb66

A few details…

ah_jb67

ah_jb68

ah_jb69

ah_jb70

The wedding was perfect, tropical, and everything John and Beth. Huge congratulations, dear brother! You did it!!

{john & beth sneak peek}

August 14, 2009

I know you usually are supposed to put the bride’s name first in these sort of things, but the groom happens to be my brother, so I reserve the right to be a bit untraditional! Like them, the wedding was fun and perfect. They exchanged vows barefoot in sand in Beth’s mom’s backyard since a trip to the beach would not have allowed all their friends and family to be present. So instead, they brought the beach to them! Complete with tiki bar and boardwalk, everything looked great. I was charged with capturing all the sweet moments. My first wedding shoot, and probably my most important one! Major stress aside, I think I was able to get a few good ones. I hope they will agree when they finally get to see. I’m still in the midst of editing the 800 photos I took over the weekend, but here’s one of my faves to tide everyone over. The rest to come soon!
