Tennison and Shea's love story is a brand of fairy tale all their own. Of all the people who could have set them up, Tennison lucked out with someone who truly had her best interest at heart: her dad. Shea is the son of her dad's co-worker, and he knew that by the way that he treated his own parents that he was a good guy. When her dad mentioned it to him, Tennison ran to Facebook to find a photo of Shea. She later reminisces, "I know it's silly, but as soon as I saw his photo, I just knew he was the one."
Common ideals, activities, and interests are important for the longevity of any relationship. Like most couples, Kaitlin and Eric like a lot of the same things. They enjoy being outdoors, and they both have a particular affinity for the beach. Sometimes describing themselves as foodies, they appreciate good meals and drinks, especially when sharing them with each other. However, they also know, and respect, that they are different. It is their variations that make them distinctive and balance their relationship!
Michelle and Matt are, above all, best friends. Like friends, they spend a lot of time together, doing things that friends do. They are comfortable grabbing a beer or a cocktail and watching the game. In fact, they always stock up on Memphis Grizzlies tickets so that they don't miss their favorite team play. They both enjoy being outdoors, and they are always active. Their friendship is very important to them, and they nurture it to keep it growing.
And yet, they are so much more than friends.
Sam and JT have such a fun love story. As every good love story should be, it perfectly embodies their relationship. Theirs is one composed of lots of laughs. Like, lots. These two just can't help but to have fun around each other. Sam told me that their favorite thing to do together... is nothing. Because even when they are doing nothing, they enjoy each other's company. They have an uncanny knack for turning nothing into something fun! As you will soon see, this includes their urban Memphis engagement session. I don't think we've ever had a session filled with so much joy and mirth!
We met Ashley and David over drinks, not too long ago. As one drink turned into two, then dinner, Ed and I knew we could talk with them all night long! We couldn't wait to see them again for their downtown Memphis engagement session. We knew it would be full of fun and laughs, and we were not disappointed! I have never made a secret of my favoritism for laughing photos. Ashley and David filled and surpassed my quota! And for every one of these joy-filled photos, Ed and I laughed twice as much.
Anne-Sophie and Dalton have been in a long-distance relationship for most of the time they've been together. They are also both medical students, so free time is rare and precious. These two know bestt how to make the most of every minute that they are in the same city. They squeeze in visits when they can, and they make every second count, even if it's just sitting on the couch binge watching the latest Netflix show. We were so happy that we could find a time to get them together in Memphis for their engagement session, and we loved watching them soak up every minute together!
I had been waiting to meet this girl for months! Catherine doesn't currently live in Memphis, so we had our initial meeting over the phone. Even though we couldn't see each other, we just clicked! You know how phone calls can be difficult when you can't see body language? We didn't have that problem. We bonded over succulents, love, and Southern charm, and I just couldn't wait to meet her face to face! We finally got our chance when she and Trent were in Memphis for the holidays. We scheduled their winter engagement session while they were here, and we lucked out with a sunny day!
When we first starting planning their river engagement session with Claire and Andrew, they told us that they both felt pretty awkward taking photos. You've probably heard me say this before, but I love hearing this! Most of our couples are not professional models. They find it at least a little uncomfortable to be photographed (I sure do!). Most people don't know how to find the best light or the best angles. This is where I get to really stretch my professional muscles and lead them through the process. My very favorite thing is hearing that someone had a great time having their photo taken, even if they were nervous at first! By the end of their session, Claire and Andrew were pros, and we had so much fun with them!
It's officially Fall now, so I'm going to pretend that we photographed this Memphis river engagement session while the temperatures were blissfully cool and fresh fallen leaves crunched underfoot.
But that is not reality.
Reality is that, while it was almost Fall, the temperatures were still uncomfortably hot. Reality is that Alicia and Charles both donned jackets for the sake of the photos, but they quickly removed them after the shutter stopped clicking. Reality is that the leaves on the trees are still stubbornly green and remain fixed to their branches.
