When we first met with Emily and Trey, they told us that they didn’t want a traditional wedding. With that, we loved them right away! Then Emily said what she really wanted was an intimate, laid-back dinner, where a wedding just happens to take place in the middle of it. We loved them even more! The best part? They got exactly what they wanted.
We LOVE Southern Weddings, and we have such a sweet one to share today! There’s just something so special about Southern hospitality, the soothing sound of cicadas in the trees, and sweating glasses of iced tea and lemonade. Add into the mix a gorgeous fairytale bride in a lacy ballgown, stunning flowers in dripping cascades, and the most ADORABLE flower dog ever, and we are in photographer heaven!
Sometimes it rains on a wedding day. Sometimes, it even pours. When life surprises you with unexpected thunderstorms, you have a choice. You can be as dark and foreboding as the rain clouds, or you can be the bright, sunny day that chases them away. When LaQuitta and Mario woke up on the morning of their civil wedding ceremony, rain clouds were threatening in the distance. By the time they were saying “I do,” the rain was thundering down outside. But their smiles never waned and their attitudes never darkened – they were married, and that’s all that mattered! They had eyes only for each other and cared only about their start of their new life. And because of them, this day was all the right kinds of sunny… on the inside.
I say it all the time, because it’s so true: our favorite thing about our job is that we have new friends when the wedding is over. But with Kristi and Matt, we ended up with new friends before the wedding! We got along so well with them right away. And when they pulled out three bottles of flavored tequila after their engagement session and invited us to stay for cocktails, we sealed our friendship right then and there! Since that day, we have shared more cocktails, and even more laughs. We looked forward to their wedding not only as photographers, but as friends! We’re so thrilled to be sharing this one today!
Oh friends, we have such a treat for you today! I’ll go ahead and warn you ahead of time… this is a very lengthy post! I had so much trouble narrowing down my favorite photos. I love them all, and they all tell a part of the story of this incredible day. Now comes the hard part – trying to figure out what to say about this amazing, classic Memphis Hunt and Polo Club wedding. While I love words, and I love to talk, trying to find the right words for all the awesomeness that happened on this day is going to be a challenge. But I’ll give it my best shot…
Oh, you guys! The blog looks SO pretty today! We are so excited to share this past weekend’s Davies Plantation Spring outdoor wedding with you. We learned three important things at this one:
- Friday weddings are awesome (we may be biased since we got married on a Friday ourselves!).
- EVERY wedding reception should have an Hora Loca!
- Weddings are twice as fun when they’re in English AND Spanish.
We are beyond excited to share this elegant blue and pink Memphis wedding with you today! April is one of our busiest months of this year, and we were thrilled to start it off with Emily and Josh! One of our most favorite things is when we get to photograph a family a second time. A few years ago, we shot sweet Ellen and Bobby’s wedding, so when it came time for Ellen’s little sister to get married, we were so glad they called us!
When I first spoke with Myesha on the phone, she asked me if I had ever seen Sex and the City. Right then I knew that we could be bffs! As we talked about our love of Carrie Bradshaw, New York city, and Mr. Big, we fell into an easy rhythm that usually comes with years of friendship. And yet I had never met her! I’m always blown away by how lucky we are to meet so many amazing people while doing what we do. Especially when there’s a pair of Manolos involved!
I knew Maggi and Aaron were our kind of couple when she told me that they were more “silly” than “romantic.” I love fun, laughing photos, and these two are the perfect playful couple! But as it turns out, they can do romantic pretty darn good, too.
Our 2017 wedding season has officially begun! We kicked off the year with an amazing couple. Sabrina and Gary are a classic duo, with style all in the right places (wait until you see her shoes!). My favorite thing about them is their romance. Gary can’t go 5 minutes without kissing her, and Sabrina has a shy smile that she saves for only him. I think you’ll notice as you scroll through these photos how easily they are themselves in front of the camera, and I love that!
