I love photographing beautiful brides all across the country! I truly love what I do, and I'm so lucky to be able to do what I love. But I have to say, I love being a mom first! And I may be biased, but I have beautiful kids, who would rival any model! If you're tired of seeing beautiful photos of my gorgeous birthday girl, then this post will disappoint! However, this post isn't about photos, but about video!
For girls, turning 16 is a big deal. We've given each of our girls one big birthday party - on their sweet 16th birthday. It's the only one where we really go big. At least for our standards. Jessie is the last of our girls to turn 16, and all she asked for was a flower crown and a photoshoot. A girl after my own heart! We were more than happy to give in!
School starts next week. I can't believe the summer is already gone! I swear, it seems like we were finalizing our summer vacation plans only last week. Time and I are not getting along this year! Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm staying too busy to notice the passing of time, but it sure does fly by faster than ever before. Helen is going to be a Senior this year. A Senior! So, in the spirit of the approaching new school year, and in stopping to smell the roses while the roses are still blooming, I thought I would share some of my favorites from her Senior photo session.
Today, you are 22 years young. Every year, your ball of talent, energy, and heart grows into something even more beautiful than the year before. I love your mix of maturity and girlish giggles. You are vintage and alternative at the same time, and only you could pull that off. You have real fears of the grown-up world, but at the same time are completely unafraid to jump headfirst into it.
The first week of our vacation is a bit of a blur! We spent 6 full days in Nashville for our kids' national dance finals competition. Our time there flew by, and yet, at the same time, it seems as though it was a full month ago. That "time flies when you're having fun" thing? It's totally true.
Right now, I'm sitting at a table on a deck underneath a canopy of trees dripping with Spanish Moss. I'm sipping on a morning mimosa, and the coastal breeze is blowing in my hair. Savannah is my favorite city on the planet, and I am in heaven at this very moment!
It's been a sad, emotional day. We had to say goodbye to our puppy of 15 years this morning. Kipper has been with us almost as long as Ed and I have been married. He was older than two of our children, and has been around for almost the whole lives of the other two.
Every year, Ed and I try to go to at least one photography conference or workshop. We always want to keep growing, and we know that there is always something we can improve. We've been doing this long enough that we know we have the technical knowledge to make a well-exposed, nicely composed photograph. But that's not enough for us. We always strive for creative, beautiful, fine art photography. If nothing else, these learning experiences are great for creative inspiration!
