I am not handling stress well this year. We don't have time for anything these days, much less decorating the house for Christmas. Even though I didn't think it would happen, the house got decorated anyway! And it was probably the quickest, most stress-free holiday decorating we've ever done. Come on in for our Christmas home tour, and I'll let you know how I managed to do it!
We always try to do too much. We try to squeeze in 14 bajillion things into the 2-3 days that we're together before the madness of Christmas really hits. This year's Christmas family photos came with the usual rushing and bickering, but I love them anyway. Read on to see how they turned out, and laugh at the outtakes!
I seem to be notorious for getting into a groove with my obsessions. For a few weeks at a time, I'm completely absorbed by my latest extra-curricular activities. Then I'll find something else and move on. It's hard to play favorites, but I seem to have so many! They change all the time, though, so I like to call them my "right now" favorites. Continue reading to learn about a few of mine this month!
Our middle daughter is 18 today. You'd think that taking her Senior photos and preparing for college would have gotten me used to this idea by now, but no such luck. It's managed to sneak up on me anyway. So, Helen, as your mother on your 18th birthday, and before you leave us for new experiences and adventures, I have some words of wisdom for you.
Traveling for weddings always brings new challenges and adventures. We not only have to pack and carry all our equipment, but we need to remember to bring wedding clothes, travel clothes, and toiletries, especially my hair brush. I don't know if ya'll have seen my hair lately, but it's getting pretty long. I definitely am always in need of a brush! Until I don't have one.
It's always this time of year, when the weather starts gets a bit cooler (just a bit!), and the light starts getting a little softer, that I try to hold on to every last minute of Summer that I can. Fall is on its way! I love Fall, but I love Summer most, and I'm always sad to see it go.
I love photographing beautiful brides all across the country! I truly love what I do, and I'm so lucky to be able to do what I love. But I have to say, I love being a mom first! And I may be biased, but I have beautiful kids, who would rival any model! If you're tired of seeing beautiful photos of my gorgeous birthday girl, then this post will disappoint! However, this post isn't about photos, but about video!
For girls, turning 16 is a big deal. We've given each of our girls one big birthday party - on their sweet 16th birthday. It's the only one where we really go big. At least for our standards. Jessie is the last of our girls to turn 16, and all she asked for was a flower crown and a photoshoot. A girl after my own heart! We were more than happy to give in!
School starts next week. I can't believe the summer is already gone! I swear, it seems like we were finalizing our summer vacation plans only last week. Time and I are not getting along this year! Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm staying too busy to notice the passing of time, but it sure does fly by faster than ever before. Helen is going to be a Senior this year. A Senior! So, in the spirit of the approaching new school year, and in stopping to smell the roses while the roses are still blooming, I thought I would share some of my favorites from her Senior photo session.
