12 Jan Brooklyn + New York City Fall Engagement
Ed and I love to travel for engagement sessions! We always encourage our couples to make their engagement session about their everyday lives, since the wedding day will only be one, very special day. These two have been living in New York City for a few years, so we could only capture their everyday lives by going to them! We made a long weekend out of it, spending one whole, full day with our couple! We got to see the city through their eyes, and for us, we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
We started the day early in the morning on the Brooklyn Bridge. Leslie and Nate currently live in Brooklyn, so it was the perfect symbol for their life together! We lucked out and had a beautiful, warm sunny Fall day (for NYC!). The sun coming up over the skyline was amazing, and bathed the city and sky in shades of pink and orange. We hoped that the early hour would keep foot traffic to a minimum, but we still had to fight joggers, bikers, and other photographers for the best view! It was worth it, and these very first shots are some of my favorite from the whole day!
When we were done, we made our way down below to Dumbo Park. Leslie and Nate gave us all the insider tips on where we should (jokingly!) purchase our vacation home. We got coffee and pastries at an adorable local cafe, then walked down to the water for more photos. We had planned the day for a nice, slow, leisurely tour of the city with some photos sprinkled in here and there. Leslie and Nate were such naturals, though, that it was hard to stop photographing them at every stop!
After a delicious lunch at one of their favorite restaurants, Nate led us on a walking tour through some of his favorite neighborhoods. We absolutely LOVED seeing the city from a first-person, native point-of-view! We saw so many places that we never would have found on our own (and probably could never find again!). We ended the day in Central Park, where the Fall color was simply stunning! I don’t think I’ve ever seen trees so yellow. It was the perfect ending for our adventure!
Leslie and Nate, thank you SO MUCH for being our tour guides for a day! It was a long day, but you two handled it with nothing less than generosity and grace. I hope this little sneak peek into our adventure makes it worth it! We can’t WAIT for the wedding!
Lady Liberty looks amazing at sunrise!
Love this one!!
We HAD to get one with a yellow cab!
Doesn’t Leslie have the cutest smile ever???
If you can dream it you can do it. Amen.
This street lined with brownstones is exactly what I envision when I think of life in New York!
The gingkos were GORGEOUS!
At least we made it look like we had Central Park to ourselves!
Nate, you’re sophisticated AND handsome. I see why Leslie likes you!
Yes, this is how it really looked. Wow!
The ducks picked the perfect moment to swim by 🙂
