06 Jun ellen + bobby: a romantic memphis engagement
They met in college, and it was almost love at first sight. Bobby knew they were being set up by mutual friends, and that the first few dates were a test, but Ellen had no clue. She was simply her charming, adorable self. But even having no prior knowledge, Ellen passed all the tests with flying colors. It didn’t take long for Bobby to know that she was the one he wanted to spend forever with.
He decided to pop the question during a trip to the Tennessee mountains. He had planned a sunrise hike to the exact minute so that he could be on one knee as the sun crested the mountain. Ellen’s sister was camped out in the brush nearby with her iPhone, ready to capture the big moment. It was a chilly morning, and as Ellen shivered, Bobby did his best to keep her warm while they waited for the sun to rise. In the perfect moment, the sun finally shone its rays over the top of the mountain peak, and Bobby asked Ellen to be his wife. There, in the quiet of the mountain morning, she said yes, and the rest of the trip was a happy blur.
Bobby moved from Georgia to Memphis to be closer to his bride-to-be. Since he now has a downtown apartment overlooking the Mississippi River, we thought it was only appropriate to meet there for their engagement shoot. We started on Main Street, where the light couldn’t have been more perfect.
Bobby is a pro at making Ellen laugh!
Ellen’s whole face lights up when she’s around Bobby.
Ellen and Bobby are a very romantic couple, and they love to spend time walking hand in hand in the park. We wanted to incorporate this part of them in their shoot, so after a change of clothes, we moved on to Shelby Farms for some more natural, tender shots.
The light was absolutely amazing!
I love how natural and comfortable they were in front of the camera.
Ellen and Bobby, thank you for spending an evening with us! We loved getting to know you better, and had a great time afterward listening to your story. You are so obviously meant to be together, and we can’t wait for the wedding!
Here’s to passing tests. And sunrise hikes. And nose-crinkling laughs. Cheers!
