mindy + grant: promised. a senatobia, mississippi engagement.

It only took 6 months to know it was right. They met in January, were engaged in July, and will be marrying nearly a year after the proposal. Mindy knew when their first date, set up by a friend, wasn’t one teensy bit awkward. They sat in a deli, and she pretended to be interested in the basketball game that was on TV. That’s how much she liked him right away. Grant is a coach at the local high school, so Mindy told him they should watch the game that was playing as they ate their sandwiches.

Grant knew when he found out he could laugh, joke, and tease Mindy, and she just teased him right back. So, after a trip to the beach in July, he popped the question. Mindy was expecting the proposal to come during the trip, but he threw her off guard by waiting. Instead, on the day they returned from their trip, he took her to the chapel where her parents were married. They knew it was too small for their own wedding, but Grant pretended that he wanted a tour anyway. While Mindy was pointing out all the reasons why they couldn’t get married there, Grant was pointing out the flowers and card with her name on it. Then he got on one knee, asked her to marry him, and by doing so, gave the chapel that was so important to Mindy a special place in their engagement story instead.

Ed and I met Mindy and Grant in Senatobia, Mississippi, Grant’s hometown. Because he’s a coach, and because she likes to tease him, they brought a “house divided” flag to represent their different tastes in teams.

Okay. So. Usually, I have to work extra-hard to make my grooms relax a bit for photos. Not the case here. Grant is super funny and kept us all laughing for the whole session, making my job super cinch!

See? I wish I could take credit for this, but I’m sure he was laughing at his own joke.

Mindy, you are beautiful. Grant is a lucky guy.

Mindy and Grant have a friend who let us use their entire farm, complete with lake, for their engagement shoot. So awesome!

These two are so perfect for each other, and I love how it shows.

Sunset on a farm? Yes, please!

Seriously. Check out that view. Mindy and Grant look pretty fantastic, too.

Mindy and Grant, thanks so much for hanging out with us for an evening! And thanks for driving out of your way to get out of a dry county so we could have drinks 😉 I knew there was a reason I liked you! Can’t wait for the wedding!

You are so right, Amy. I have never had to help Grant relax! He has helped our family laugh for years…even at ourselves. What a beautiful story in words and pictures. How very blessed I am with a son and now a daughter-in law!
