We made an instant bond with Erica and Travis. We felt attracted to their genuine and sweet hearts, but when we learned that they met and fell in love not far from the place that Ed and I did, we loved them even more! I have always wanted to photograph a couple in the Mississippi Delta. Ed and I began our lives together in the Delta, so when Erica and Travis told us that they wanted their engagement session there, we were totally on board! It felt so good to get back to our roots!
Ed and I had never actually been to Greenwood, though it is only down the street from our own hometown. Erica wanted to include the old buildings and brick streets in the historic downtown area, so we started there. I immediately fell in love with it. It could so easily have been straight out of a John Grisham or Greg Iles novel! As soon as I saw Greenwood’s iconic downtown bridge, I knew that we had to use that too. Just wait till you see the drone photos we took there!
After an outfit change, we headed to Erica’s grandmother’s land. Though her grandmother is no longer with her, Erica spent a lot of time at her house, playing in the nearby fields and levee. Those places still mean so much to Erica, and we were thrilled to be able to photograph her and Travis there! We soaked up the sunset in a nearby empty crop field, something I’ve been wanting to do for AGES! It takes a special couple to dance in an empty Delta field, especially all dressed up!
Erica and Travis, this shoot meant a lot to us, and we are so glad we were able to pull it off! It nearly took a decade of being in business, but we’re grateful we finally found the perfect couple for it 😉 We love you both so much, and we can’t WAIT for the wedding!
In the meantime, enjoy some of our favorites from our time in the Greenwood Delta with you!
