We LOVE Southern Weddings, and we have such a sweet one to share today! There’s just something so special about Southern hospitality, the soothing sound of cicadas in the trees, and sweating glasses of iced tea and lemonade. Add into the mix a gorgeous fairytale bride in a lacy ballgown, stunning flowers in dripping cascades, and the most ADORABLE flower dog ever, and we are in photographer heaven!
This was our first time shooting at the Fountain South Inn, and we loved it as soon as we set eyes on the property! Not only does it have that classic Southern charm, but there are TONS of great places for photos, including the most spectacular weeping willow tree! I’m a sucker for a great garden, so I was so happy to see tons of flowering pots, vine-covered arbors and roofs, and hidden pathways to secret spots. But the best thing about this wedding, hands down, was Liz and Drew.
Liz and Drew are not afraid to be themselves, and that is probably my favorite thing about them! Their wedding was full of little details that reflected their personal tastes and passions. If you know them well, you saw that their invitations held a nod to Liz’s favorite movie, Drew’s cufflinks (given to him by Liz) depicted the logo of his favorite band, and a tiara was worn by a real-life princess, if only for a day. Liz’s own grandfather did all the flowers himself!
What we didn’t know is that they can both sing! In true Liz and Drew fashion, they chose to release lanterns into the night during their reception. Afterwards, they faced each other, held hands, and sang “I See the Light” from the movie Tangled, in perfect harmony. It was the sweetest surprise and brought applause from all the guests, including us!
The day was full of so much amazingness that I can’t list it all. But I think Ed and I would agree that one of our favorite moments was at the end of the night, when the entire dance floor rocked out and sang to My Chemical Romance’s “Helena (So Long and Goodnight)!” Not only do we approve of the music choice, 😉 but it was so cool to see Liz and Drew, surrounded by all their friends, singing (or yelling!) a song that meant something personal to them, connecting them in a way that only they understand. It was the best!
Liz and Drew, I can’t thank you enough for choosing us to celebrate with you! Your wedding day surprised us in so many meaningful ways! It was all so good. But the best part of the day was definitely YOU, hands down. We love you both! Enjoy this little peek of your day!
