16 Sep Happy 10th Birthday, Alex!
My son is 10.
Wow. Every year it surprises me. You’d think I’d get used to it, it being on the same day and all. Sometimes I want to be able to freeze time and keep him just the way he is. Then another year comes and goes, and I find that I like this age best so far.
So far, I like 10 best. So I guess growing up isn’t too bad.
I know one day there will come a time when I may want the years to go backwards, but right now I am loving now. Alex, I hope that at whatever age, you will always be the carefree, laughter-dissolving, hug-loving, world-embracing boy that you are now.
Happy birthday, Bud!
(we actually took this photo back in July, but I love it!)
This year, we decided to only invite boys he actually liked to his party, instead of inviting everyone in his class or on his block, just to up the ante. I’m so glad we did! Everyone knew each other, everyone got along, and everyone had a great time.
I love the shot on the right where Alex is just in fits of giggles. He had such fun!
Jessie gets the best-big-sister award. She had as much fun as the boys did, I think, and she is always the best helper! She even requested this shot with her brother. I don’t know about you, but I think the random feet totally make the shot!
Boys will be boys.
Laughing. Again. Always. This is how I love him best.
You know they’re getting older when you don’t have to do much at their birthday party! This was the first year Alex was old enough to just hang out with his friends and let the party lead itself. We just let them play and have fun, completely free-form style. It was relaxed and perfect.
10 is definitely my favorite.
Happy birthday, Alex! You’re the best birthday present I ever got.
