Danielle and Will planned their wedding so that they could be married only a few short weeks after suffering through the Bar Exam. We all joked that if they could endure that test of will together, then marriage would be a breeze! In all seriousness, though, these two have nothing to worry about. Their hearts are already so giving, and their arms already so open, that taking this next step is just the natural course of their adventure together.
I think it’s safe to say that until this day, we had never met a groom that was this excited to marry his bride! He beamed. He laughed. And yes, he cried. He cried big, unabashed, joyful tears that he was not ashamed to have streaming down his face. When he first turned around and got his first glimpse of her, he broke down, sobbed into her shoulder, and then looked at her and said, “you are just as beautiful as I knew you would be.” She stroked his face and hugged him hard. Together, they held each other and promised to love each other forever, before the vows were even said. They set the tone for their colorful day – a day full of love, promises, faith, and beauty. Insane beauty! Wendy made the loveliest bride, and David’s devotion to her was just as delightful to witness. What a way to start our 2016 wedding season!
I know I may have mentioned it a time or two (or three, or four…), but our family loves to travel! We’re not talking all-out, round-the-world excursions. We’re too busy (and too poor!) for that. Road trips are our favorite. We pile in the car, put on a good audio book, jam out to music, or just have silly, family conversations for the hours that we’re on the road. Then, we soak up the adventure that always awaits us at our destination! This year, our Spring Break ATV trip was FULL of adventure. And stories. And it’s the stories I want to concentrate on today.
One of my favorite things on a wedding day is when the bride and groom exchange notes before they see each other. It is the perfect way to say everything you know you will forget to say, the perfect way to keep the importance of the day at the forefront of your mind, the perfect way to build anticipation for that moment when you finally see each other.
This time tomorrow, we’ll be riding the trails of the Arkansas mountains. In the midst of beautiful views. Amazing sights. And surrounded by friends and family.
We’ll be forced to unplug. And I can’t wait. This trip couldn’t come at a more needed time.
We will have very limited cell phone signal, but I will be updating via Instagram when possible. Follow our adventures there! I’m amy_hutchinson and Ed is ed_hutchinson.
Here’s to adventure. And a world without internet. And time with family. Cheers!
