There’s always a point in the wedding day when I know for sure that a couple is meant to be together. It may be something special the officiant says during the ceremony, a telling story during toasts, or even a quiet giggle or look that the couple shares when they think they’re alone. Laura and Chad’s day was full of little moments like these, but the one that really stuck with me happened when Laura was opening her gift from Chad. She pulled out a gorgeous necklace that he had chosen for her, and with glistening eyes, said, “he knows my style even better than I do!” It was a little thing, perhaps, but that simple gift said, without words, how much he knows and understands her.
When we first met with Emily and Trey, they told us that they didn’t want a traditional wedding. With that, we loved them right away! Then Emily said what she really wanted was an intimate, laid-back dinner, where a wedding just happens to take place in the middle of it. We loved them even more! The best part? They got exactly what they wanted.
Oh friends, we have such a treat for you today! I’ll go ahead and warn you ahead of time… this is a very lengthy post! I had so much trouble narrowing down my favorite photos. I love them all, and they all tell a part of the story of this incredible day. Now comes the hard part – trying to figure out what to say about this amazing, classic Memphis Hunt and Polo Club wedding. While I love words, and I love to talk, trying to find the right words for all the awesomeness that happened on this day is going to be a challenge. But I’ll give it my best shot…
Our 2017 wedding season has officially begun! We kicked off the year with an amazing couple. Sabrina and Gary are a classic duo, with style all in the right places (wait until you see her shoes!). My favorite thing about them is their romance. Gary can’t go 5 minutes without kissing her, and Sabrina has a shy smile that she saves for only him. I think you’ll notice as you scroll through these photos how easily they are themselves in front of the camera, and I love that!
We are officially done with weddings for 2016! We will still be busy the next few months with lots happening behind the scenes and time spent on re-energizing for next year, but we are tickled pink to end this year’s wedding season with a bang! We have been on pins and needles for this wedding, this celebration, this couple, ever since their Nashville engagement session! And once you see our recap of their day, we know you’ll understand why!
He bounced on the balls of his feet while he waited to see her. His eyes sparkled with excitement and, already knowing the answer, I asked if he was ready for his wedding day. “SO ready!” he replied with a huge grin. We could feel the anticipation pouring off him in waves. He didn’t have any of the usual groom nerves, and cold feet were certainly not in the equation. This man was simply ready to be married to the love of his life! George loves Taylor with a fierceness we rarely see. It was obvious to everyone who shared the day with them that Taylor makes George insanely happy, and she would do anything to make him happy.
“All in.” That’s what I always remember when I think about Erica. It has been over a YEAR since we first met with her and her lovely mom. That first time we spoke, sipping coffee, we all just hit it off perfectly. The more we talked about her wedding plans, the more excited we all got! At the end of the meeting, Erica turned to her mom and said, “What do you think?” Her mom gazed back at her and said, “Let’s do it! I’m all in.” And I fell in love with them both.
There’s nothing like a classic, traditional wedding! A simple diamond solitaire, a lace gown, a sheer veil, classic black and white, and red roses speak more about a couple than it may seem at first. They say love, above all. They say simplicity is a gift. They say relationships will never go out of style. They say their lives will always have a splash of color. They say that coming together with family, friends, and loved ones is all they need.
She is timeless, and he loves that about her. She lives and loves passionately, she can make anything fun, and she never goes out of style. On her wedding day, Jennifer wore her grandmother’s wedding gown, and made it look like it was created just for her. Like her, the dress is classic. Beautiful. Ever fashionable.
Jennifer also loves horses. She had wanted her own horse to be included in the wedding somehow, but when plans didn’t work out, Jared knew she was disappointed. While Jared knows he has to share a bit of her attention, he knows he never has to compete for her heart. So, as a surprise, he produced and donned a rubber horse mask so that she would know her horse was there in spirit. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, this way you will have a few photos with your horse. And she loves that about him.
On a beautiful summer day, Jennifer and Jared declared their love for each other, with perfect details that represent their love. Simplicity. Natural elements. Beauty. Timelessness.
Jennifer’s and Jared’s wedding was held at Heartwood Hall, and the girls’ preparation began in the main plantation house, with a beautiful wedding gown and sparkling chandeliers. Jennifer wore her grandmother’s dress, which was created especially for her and is one of a kind.
Jennifer wore her mother’s garter, so there were three generations of weddings represented!
Jennifer, you make a stunning bride!
Meanwhile, Ed was with the guys, who were getting ready in the old plantation slave quarters (seems appropriate, doesn’t it?).
Jennifer and Jared chose to see each other before the ceremony, and Jennifer had to work hard to hold back tears.
Jared was obviously overjoyed at the sight of his bride.
We then took time for some bridal portraits around the lush Heartwood Hall grounds.
I loved the details of Jennifer’s ensemble.
A panoramic photo near the lake…
I loved the simple beauty of Jennifer’s bouquet! Kevin Griffin (the FedEx Flower Guy) did an amazing job with all the florals!
And the girl can work the camera! (Ed’s photo on the left)
Jared, you clean up pretty good too (Ed’s photo on right)!
The wedding party was awesome all day long, and the flower girl was the cutest thing ever!
Even the guys were rocking it!
Ed captured one of my favorite guy shots (left).
I was LOVING this gorgeous light!
The ceremony took place in the barn, and it was all decked out for the occasion.
Okay, when I said this flower girl was the cutest thing, I wasn’t lying. I might be a bit biased, since I have three girls of my own, but she was adorable! She passed out flowers to all the ladies sitting on the isle. How cute is that?
The ceremony was full of tender moments….
I whisked the happy couple away for 5 minutes of sunset photos before the reception.
My favorite shot from the entire day! Sigh.
So happy to finally be married!
Meanwhile, guests were enjoying cocktail hour by the pool.
the barn underwent a quick transformation to get ready for reception mode.
SO many fantastic details!
The First Dance….
the reception was full of lively entertainment all night long.
Jennifer and Jared had a great time with their families and friends, but at the end of the night, they only wanted to be together.
Jennifer and Jared, I know you had a great time in Hawaii! Jennifer, I hope you kept those daisy-clad toenails buried in the sand! I can’t wait to hear all about it! Thank you SO MUCH for allowing us the honor of capturing your wedding day. It means more to me than I can express, especially since Jared is quite the photographer himself!
