Common ideals, activities, and interests are important for the longevity of any relationship. Like most couples, Kaitlin and Eric like a lot of the same things. They enjoy being outdoors, and they both have a particular affinity for the beach. Sometimes describing themselves as foodies, they appreciate good meals and drinks, especially when sharing them with each other. However, they also know, and respect, that they are different. It is their variations that make them distinctive and balance their relationship!
Keith and Joe met at the UGA Law School. While they both attended different schools previously, they each wound up at UGA at the same time. Over the course of their three years there so far, they fell in love, and they will be getting married in Memphis in two weeks! Since Athens is such a big part of their lives now, we all really wanted to do their engagement session there. So Ed and I traveled to Athens (just a few days after spending a week in Georgia ourselves!) to document this special times in their lives. I'm so glad we did! Not only did we get tons of amazing photos, but we got to spend a weekend in a lovely Georgian town, and soak up the college culture!
Brittany and Walker are so easy-going! We knew right away that they were the perfect clients for us. We all got along from the moment we met, so we knew their engagement session would be a breeze. They love anything from taking their dogs for a walk along the gravel paths of Shelby Farms, to a simple barbecue at home, to dancing in the rain (as you will soon see). We wanted to make sure to capture the essence of who they are.
Katy and Eric like to tell people with a smile, "a tornado brought us together." While perhaps a bit morbid, it's actually almost quite true! Although they didn't realize it until later, Katy and Eric were in the same 5th grade class together. But it was their sophomore year in college that would bring them back together.
Jordanna and Justin have known each other since preschool. Preschool! They have class photos of themselves in preschool and 2nd grade where they were standing only feet from each other. They didn't know then that they were destined for each other, but they never would have ended up together if the path that led them to each other didn't start there.
Andrea and Jimmy are college sweethearts. They met on the balcony of their 4th floor dorm, where they discovered they were exactly 2 floors apart. She was in 253, and he was two floors above, in 453. She knew lots of other girls had their eye on him, but Andrea knew that 2 floors would be the farthest apart they would ever be. Six years later, Jimmy made sure of that when he proposed on that very same balcony where they met!
Accidental love is one of my favorite kinds of love stories! Laura and Evan didn't start out with romance in mind, but they ended up finding their way to it slowly instead. It was built carefully and without intention, and it ended up surprising them both.
Angelique and Marcus don't do anything halfway. They go all in. They have a style all their own, and their relationship reflects that. From their first date in Chicago, to their romantic proposal (Marcus re-created that Chicago first date here in Memphis!), and everything in between, Angelique and Marcus are confident about putting their own stamp on everything they do!
Amy and Sam are so natural and comfortable around each other, you'd think they'd have known each other for years. That they were childhood friends. You just can't envision one without the other. But in fact, they only knew each other about a year before they were engaged. Like Amy says, "When you know, you know."
