I had been waiting to meet this girl for months! Catherine doesn't currently live in Memphis, so we had our initial meeting over the phone. Even though we couldn't see each other, we just clicked! You know how phone calls can be difficult when you can't see body language? We didn't have that problem. We bonded over succulents, love, and Southern charm, and I just couldn't wait to meet her face to face! We finally got our chance when she and Trent were in Memphis for the holidays. We scheduled their winter engagement session while they were here, and we lucked out with a sunny day!

They don't do serious. They don't do sadness or tears (except happy ones!). They don't do drama, or too much, or too little. They never stop talking. They never stop laughing. And these are only a FEW of the reasons we love Erin and Donny so much! Their officiant described them best during their wedding ceremony when he said, "Not only do Erin and Donny LOVE each other, but they sure do LIKE each other a lot! And they like doing life together." Yes. That.

Right now, I'm sitting at a table on a deck underneath a canopy of trees dripping with Spanish Moss. I'm sipping on a morning mimosa, and the coastal breeze is blowing in my hair. Savannah is my favorite city on the planet, and I am in heaven at this very moment!

Today (or yesterday, by the time anyone reads this) is the first day of Fall, and I'm celebrating by sitting outside on my patio with my laptop, writing this post. It's such a gorgeous day that I decided to move my office outside for the day! As much as I hate that summer really has come to an end, I do have to grudgingly admit that I love Fall! The weather in the South is beautiful, the hummingbirds are visiting this time of year, and the grasses are flowering. Yeah, okay. It's nice.

My son is 10. Wow. Every year it surprises me. You'd think I'd get used to it, it being on the same day and all. Sometimes I want to be able to freeze time and keep him just the way he is. Then another year comes and goes, and I find that I like this age best so far. So far, I like 10 best. So I guess growing up isn't too bad.

I firmly believe that the couples that Ed and I get along with best are those that have similar values as our own. I think that's true for a lot of relationships, actually. We easily build a rapport and intuitively know what is most important to them. This makes photographing their story and their important moments so much easier! Ed and I have been married long enough that we can tell you in an instant what is most important to us: family, friends, and living a good life to the fullest. We love to celebrate anything (we don't need much of an excuse for a party!), and as long as our loved ones are near, we're good.

Ed and I love downtown Memphis. It has a little bit of everything... great restaurants (I'm always thinking about food!), fabulous city and river views, fun nightlife, and everything from gardens and fountains to grungy alleys and abandoned warehouses. There's always something interesting downtown, especially for a photographer who never goes anywhere without her camera!

We have a large family. And I don't just mean us. Yes, two parents and four children is not exactly small, but when you count in grandparents, aunts, uncles, and nephews, it gets even bigger. The best bonus of a big family? Instant party! Jessie's 15th birthday snuck up on us over the weekend, so we were especially thankful to all our family who came and made it so special for her!

We've spent a lot of time lately traveling. And that's cool - we love traveling, especially to the beach. It's what the summer is for: packing the family into the car, driving to the coast, eating out more often than not, and spending the evenings...
