When Ed and I got in the car to head to this engagement session, I looked at him and said, "We're going to love this couple. It's going to be so fun!" And I was 100% right. We are slowly beginning to shoot a few sessions, while taking precautions and keeping our social distance. After so many days in quarantine, spending time with this couple was exactly what we needed, especially since it was also Ed's birthday!
This is the engagement session that almost didn't happen. Instead, it turned out even better because we went ahead with it anyway! Maggie and Jeffrey live in Nashville, so we looked at the forecast and chose a day that looked nice and sunny for their engagement session in Memphis. And it was... until it wasn't.
When Covid-19 hit, Tennison and Shea considered many different options for their wedding, which was originally scheduled right in the middle of what turned out to be a quarantine. In the end, they decided that they weren't going to let a global pandemic keep them apart. They went ahead with their originally scheduled wedding, but with lots of unique changes. We are so glad they did! Ed and I agree that their wedding day was even more special due to the circumstances. They will definitely never forget it!
I think I speak for every photographer on the planet right now when I say that we are so ready to start shooting again! Thanks to Covid, we've all been cooped up, trying to find other ways to express our creativity. We were thrilled when Memphis began reopening, allowing us to safely photograph couples in love, from a 6 foot distance.
We love an intimate backyard wedding so much! As a photographer, it's always so inspiring to shoot in a location we've never been. For the bride and groom, it adds so much personal detail to their wedding day. They can honestly say no one else has ever gotten married in that place before! I love that. They are also more comfortable in their own surroundings, and it lends a relaxed, stress-free feeling to the whole day. That's exactly the kind of wedding day Catherine and Tyler planned.
There is only one word that jumps to mind when I look back on Ashley and David's Loflin Yard wedding day... FUN. Yes, I know "fun" is such a simple, three-letter word. It's not complicated, extravagant, or pretentious. It's exactly what it says it is, and so are Ashley and David. Their day was fun because they decided it would be stress-free and about them. And as you look at their laughing faces in almost every photo, you will be able to see that they are simply fun people. Their day was fun because they are fun.
The odds were against these two ever meeting. They didn't go to the same school or work at the same place. They weren't even from the same town. But chance would have it that they would meet. They would bump into each other serendipitously, and...
Kaitlin and Eric are the kind of couple that is a dream to photograph. They can do everything. They are everything. Romantic. Funny. Sweet. Tender. Fun. Laughing. Crying. And they look great doing it! As you scroll down, you'll see exactly what I mean.
There wasn't one single tear all day long. This joyful downtown Memphis Cadre wedding was reserved only for laughs, grins, and merriment. Sam and JT giggled and teased during their First Look on the Peabody rooftop, where each of them turned in a full circle for the other to see. Their bridal party was overflowing with loyal friends who made sure there was always an inside joke handy. Later, as Sam made her way down the isle toward JT, excited at the sight of his bride, gave her a playful cat-call whistle. Comfortable in each other, in their relationship, and now their new marriage, these two wanted only to celebrate!
Tennison and Shea's love story is a brand of fairy tale all their own. Of all the people who could have set them up, Tennison lucked out with someone who truly had her best interest at heart: her dad. Shea is the son of her dad's co-worker, and he knew that by the way that he treated his own parents that he was a good guy. When her dad mentioned it to him, Tennison ran to Facebook to find a photo of Shea. She later reminisces, "I know it's silly, but as soon as I saw his photo, I just knew he was the one."
