We celebrated Jesse's 2nd birthday last month. Though we gave him all the gifts, we all unquestionably know that the best gift is one he gives to us... him. He is a light in our everyday lives. His laughter makes everything okay. He runs, and jumps, and splashes, and yells, and babbles, and he mesmerizes us all. These last two years have given us so much joy!

Oh friends, we have such a treat for you today! I'll go ahead and warn you ahead of time... this is a very lengthy post! I had so much trouble narrowing down my favorite photos. I love them all, and they all tell a part of the story of this incredible day. Now comes the hard part - trying to figure out what to say about this amazing, classic Memphis Hunt and Polo Club wedding. While I love words, and I love to talk, trying to find the right words for all the awesomeness that happened on this day is going to be a challenge. But I'll give it my best shot...

LaShunda and Lauchland met in New Orleans, so it is a big part of their love story. They wanted a classy affair with a taste of that New Orleans flair, and that's exactly what they got! Their whole day was completely suited for them. It was the perfect mix of Memphis and Mardi Gras, combining fleurs de lis and Southern hospitality. Their First Look and ceremony were full of tears and emotion, then they partied with handkerchiefs and second line band music. There was no better way for them to celebrate!

My son is 10. Wow. Every year it surprises me. You'd think I'd get used to it, it being on the same day and all. Sometimes I want to be able to freeze time and keep him just the way he is. Then another year comes and goes, and I find that I like this age best so far. So far, I like 10 best. So I guess growing up isn't too bad.

I firmly believe that the couples that Ed and I get along with best are those that have similar values as our own. I think that's true for a lot of relationships, actually. We easily build a rapport and intuitively know what is most important to them. This makes photographing their story and their important moments so much easier! Ed and I have been married long enough that we can tell you in an instant what is most important to us: family, friends, and living a good life to the fullest. We love to celebrate anything (we don't need much of an excuse for a party!), and as long as our loved ones are near, we're good.

Weddings are awesome. Seriously. Who doesn't love a day filled with beautiful flowers, a gorgeous dress, meaningful ceremonies, and a big party? But I love it even more when we get a couple who remembers what a wedding is truly all about. A celebration of Love. With a capital L. Emotion. A new life together. Ellen and Bobby kept their day about all the important things and never forgot why they were celebrating. It was a day filled with lots of happy tears, tender snuggles, and lots and lots of love! It was awesome.

Because Atina and Drew live out of town, but were planning a Memphis wedding, I talked with her over the phone a few times before the big day. She explained that they were having an Egyptian Coptic Orthodox wedding and asked if I was familiar with the ceremony. I wasn't, so she explained it perfectly... "Have you ever seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Well, it's like that, but Egyptian instead of Greek."

One thing we always tell our clients is that they are clients for life! That means that we want to be there for all the important moments in their lives. Babies. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Whatevers. We don't want our connection and friendship with them to stop once they're married. So while we don't usually do family, maternity, or baby shoots, we will make an exception for our wedding clients!

The day started with pouring rain. But the clouds and puddles didn't dampen anyone's spirit. Kathleen was a very calm bride, and she laughed all day long. She was overjoyed to marry Joey, and as long as they were married at the end of the day, then that's all that mattered. Right before portrait photos were scheduled, the sun came out and the clouds parted. The rest of the day was clear  and gorgeous, and I'm convinced it was just for them!
