We have such a fun urban engagement session to share today! We didn't get the chance to meet Derek before getting him in front of our camera, but we weren't worried a bit. Jennifer had already told us that they were both extremely photogenic, and she wasn't kidding! These two thrive in front of the camera, and it was such a treat to photograph them. As you will see, they both have the perfect amount of sass, romance, and style!

One of the very first things Akeilah said to me was, "Our friendship brings the playfulness, craziness, and the candid moments that make us love each other the way we do." Her wedding to Antonio was centered around family, but it was this friendship and interaction between the two that made it so memorable! Their small family has grown with the introduction of their daughter and with her, their relationship has grown in love and respect for the other. These parents have waited many years to become an “official” family by tying the knot at the elegant and modern Clark Opera Memphis Center. Their wedding was as beautiful as they are, and their reactions while walking down the aisle proves it all!

Oh friends, we have such a treat for you today! I'll go ahead and warn you ahead of time... this is a very lengthy post! I had so much trouble narrowing down my favorite photos. I love them all, and they all tell a part of the story of this incredible day. Now comes the hard part - trying to figure out what to say about this amazing, classic Memphis Hunt and Polo Club wedding. While I love words, and I love to talk, trying to find the right words for all the awesomeness that happened on this day is going to be a challenge. But I'll give it my best shot...

Oh, you guys! The blog looks SO pretty today! We are so excited to share this past weekend's Davies Plantation Spring outdoor wedding with you. We learned three important things at this one:

  • Friday weddings are awesome (we may be biased since we got married on a Friday ourselves!).
  • EVERY wedding reception should have an Hora Loca!
  • Weddings are twice as fun when they're in English AND Spanish.

We are beyond excited to share this elegant blue and pink Memphis wedding with you today! April is one of our busiest months of this year, and we were thrilled to start it off with Emily and Josh! One of our most favorite things is when we get to photograph a family a second time. A few years ago, we shot sweet Ellen and Bobby’s wedding, so when it came time for Ellen’s little sister to get married, we were so glad they called us!

Emily's smile was the first thing I noticed about her. She has that kind of smile that means every inch of it, that lights up her whole face. You can't fake a smile like that! I knew as soon as I met her that Emily was a kind, genuine person, just like her smile. I also knew that Trey was lucky to have her, so he must be pretty special too. He didn't get to come to that initial meeting, so we were eager to meet him at their engagement session to see if he was as great as Emily. It turns out that he is just as warm and caring as we had suspected. These two make such a great pair!

He bounced on the balls of his feet while he waited to see her. His eyes sparkled with excitement and, already knowing the answer, I asked if he was ready for his wedding day. "SO ready!" he replied with a huge grin. We could feel the anticipation pouring off him in waves. He didn't have any of the usual groom nerves, and cold feet were certainly not in the equation. This man was simply ready to be married to the love of his life! George loves Taylor with a fierceness we rarely see. It was obvious to everyone who shared the day with them that Taylor makes George insanely happy, and she would do anything to make him happy.

Emily had been waiting for this summer break for a long time. She's a high school teacher (she taught our daughter, Helen!), and every year, she gets even more excited about the end of the school year than the kids! But this year, she packed her last bag a little more quickly than usual, and hurried out the door with a bit more hustle than the year before. This year, she had even more to look forward to. As soon as school was out, she was marrying her best friend! When she returns to school in the Fall, she will be a Mrs. instead of a Miss. Nothing could dampen her end-of-year spirits! Not even a little rain.

"All in." That's what I always remember when I think about Erica. It has been over a YEAR since we first met with her and her lovely mom. That first time we spoke, sipping coffee, we all just hit it off perfectly. The more we talked about her wedding plans, the more excited we all got! At the end of the meeting, Erica turned to her mom and said, "What do you think?" Her mom gazed back at her and said, "Let's do it! I'm all in." And I fell in love with them both.
