She had watched his dog once, before they even met. She was keeping a friend company one evening, while the friend was dog sitting. She got a tour of this then-stranger's apartment. Even saw where he slept. So that later, when they finally bumped into each other, she could say "I've seen your bedroom!," and it wasn't even creepy.
Emily's smile was the first thing I noticed about her. She has that kind of smile that means every inch of it, that lights up her whole face. You can't fake a smile like that! I knew as soon as I met her that Emily was a kind, genuine person, just like her smile. I also knew that Trey was lucky to have her, so he must be pretty special too. He didn't get to come to that initial meeting, so we were eager to meet him at their engagement session to see if he was as great as Emily. It turns out that he is just as warm and caring as we had suspected. These two make such a great pair!
When we do Senior portraits, it's usually a parent of the Senior who contacts us. With Trista, this wasn't the case. She contacted us herself, so we were super honored to do her session. We love love love it when a Senior is invested in her own photos! Her session was right at the end of the year last year, before the last of the leaves fell from the trees. The Fall color was amazing, making the golds, greens, and even a few reds just pop! Combined with Trista's beautiful style, it made for perfect portraits!
We had such a great time during this colorful engagement session! Fall is never a disappointing time to shoot, and the red, orange, and yellow leaves added even more color to these images. When we accidentally found a purple door that perfectly matched Liz's lavender shirt, it was the icing on the cake! We got to know these two quite well as we explored midtown together, looking for all the perfect spots that would bring out their personalities.
Hello 2017! I've been super bad about updating the blog with our recent shoots, but I have a good excuse! We shot SO many sessions in November! We don't have a long fall season here in the South, so we have to jump on what we do get. Here in Memphis, November really gives us the best for Fall as far as temperature and color goes, so we stayed busy the whole month. And that means we have so much to share!
Instead of flowers, he brought her a gold star. Everyone does flowers. Cody wanted to impress Tiffany, and give her something that would last and that she would remember. And, okay, maybe he was trying to get a laugh out of her too. Cody is a funny guy, laid-back and lighthearted, and girls love a guy who can make them laugh. It worked, as Tiffany has been charmed by him since the beginning!
Anthony and I had been planning this for months. We even had super secret code words and hand gestures. Just like real spies. But when the day arrived, and then THE MOMENT, I think we were just as nervous as he was! Maybe more. See, Anthony knew he would be marrying Shavonn. He couldn't imagine a life without her. So he planned to ask her to be his wife. On camera! Our cameras.
When Emily first emailed me about her wedding, I kept thinking to myself, "This name is so familiar. Do I know her?" I went on to compose my reply, sent it off to her, then it hit me. I immediately emailed her again, asking, "are you by any chance a high school teacher? I think you had my daughter Helen in your English class last year!" I even remembered Helen telling me that her teacher got engaged. It just so happened that Emily was that teacher!
Andrea and Jimmy are college sweethearts. They met on the balcony of their 4th floor dorm, where they discovered they were exactly 2 floors apart. She was in 253, and he was two floors above, in 453. She knew lots of other girls had their eye on him, but Andrea knew that 2 floors would be the farthest apart they would ever be. Six years later, Jimmy made sure of that when he proposed on that very same balcony where they met!
Elle and Vince met in college, and because of this, they will never tire of intelligent conversation! They both studied Classics. Vince now teaches Latin to high school kids in Mississippi, and ponders classic Greek architecture (especially columns). Elle loves Greek, her many animals, and being a student. So much so that she plans to sit in on a class or two after graduation. They both love books and knowledge, and I love them for that!
