We have such a treat to share today! This Memphis Southern School of Optometry wedding was definitely one for the books. There was almost too much awesomeness to handle! Almost. I wish I could share absolutely every detail about this beautiful day, but I would quickly run out of space. Grab a seat, and get comfortable. This one is a long one, friends, and with good reason!

I say it all the time, because it's so true: our favorite thing about our job is that we have new friends when the wedding is over. But with Kristi and Matt, we ended up with new friends before the wedding! We got along so well with them right away. And when they pulled out three bottles of flavored tequila after their engagement session and invited us to stay for cocktails, we sealed our friendship right then and there! Since that day, we have shared more cocktails, and even more laughs. We looked forward to their wedding not only as photographers, but as friends! We're so thrilled to be sharing this one today!

Oh, you guys! The blog looks SO pretty today! We are so excited to share this past weekend's Davies Plantation Spring outdoor wedding with you. We learned three important things at this one:

  • Friday weddings are awesome (we may be biased since we got married on a Friday ourselves!).
  • EVERY wedding reception should have an Hora Loca!
  • Weddings are twice as fun when they're in English AND Spanish.

Erica and Danny had so many friends and family stand up and speak for them over the course of their wedding weekend. As they spoke with love and admiration, one consistent theme gradually emerged. There were so many stories of Erica's beauty, intelligence, confidence, and ambition, but especially how she is not prone to settling for anything less than perfection. She waited a long time for the right guy to come along, but she knew in her heart that Danny was the guy, as soon as she met him. Everyone knew she made the right choice, in the way she glows when she is around him, and in the way that he takes care of and complements her in every way. He was perfect for her, and she was eagerly accepted into his family.

There's something so special about the New Year. It's full of new beginnings, new chances, new opportunities, new goals. The start of a new year brings a fresh wealth of as yet unknown experiences. These special moments are full of potential,  just waiting to happen. April and Reggie knew that they wanted this year to be extra memorable. They started it off right with a sparkling New Year's Eve wedding! They celebrated this intimate affair with only their closest loved ones. What better way to ring in the start of a brand new year than with a brand new marriage?

There's nothing like a classic, traditional wedding! A simple diamond solitaire, a lace gown, a sheer veil, classic black and white, and red roses speak more about a couple than it may seem at first. They say love, above all. They say simplicity is a gift. They say relationships will never go out of style. They say their lives will always have a splash of color. They say that coming together with family, friends, and loved ones is all they need.

Kem and David have been together a long time. They knew they were in love. They knew they wanted a life together. They knew forever was not long enough. But they also knew that they had to wait for the right time. So, when that time came, they were tired of waiting! They were ready to get married, and they wanted their new life to start as soon as possible. Their engagement lasted only 3 short months, but they still managed to have the wedding of their dreams!

By the time their wedding day came, Temi and Michael had really already been married for nearly two months. They had a traditional Nigerian wedding... in Nigeria. So they may have been legally married, but Temi had to return to her home in the states, and Michael remained behind to tie up loose ends in Nigeria. So, while they were technically married, they still didn't have much time together, nor were they even in the same time zone!

Perhaps more than any other vendor on your wedding day, it's imperative that you get along well with the person who will be taking your photos! Your photographer will be with you more than any other non-family person throughout the day, so you don't want someone you don't like to put a damper on the festivities. Make sure you meet with your photographer beforehand, and that you develop a rapport with them. This will help you be more comfortable and relaxed on your wedding day, and being comfortable means better photos!
