22 Oct Cool Season Wedding Inspiration with Paperless Post | Wedding Tips
Invitations are a super important part of the wedding day. Not only do they give out all the pertinent details and make the celebration “official,” but they set the tone for the entire wedding. Remember, the save the dates and invitations are the first taste of your wedding style that your guests will see! You want to make sure that your guests’ first glimpse of your wedding is one that will stick with them and make the right impression. With that in mind, I’ve put together a few mood boards with different styles to show how your wedding invitations might coordinate with your entire wedding look!
I love paper. I know we all live in a digital age, but there’s just something about receiving a piece of beautiful mail that you can touch and experience with more than just your eyes! I send our engaged couples mail several times throughout their engagement, and nothing makes me happier than sealing an envelope with a beautiful card and placing a stamp in the corner. My brides often ask me where they should shop for save the dates. After trying several different places (Seriously. I’m picky!), I now get all my thank you notes and stationery from Paperless Post, and their quality and customer service is impeccable! I always recommend them. So, I was thrilled to see that they are now offering entire wedding invitation suites. Some even have matching thank you notes and save the dates, so that you can coordinate your entire engagement and wedding from start to finish.
As a wedding photographer, one of my favorite things to photograph is the invitation! I always ask my couples to bring a copy or two on the wedding day so that I can get beautiful shots of it. It also makes a great background for jewelry and/or ring shots, and one of my favorite things to do on the morning of the wedding is style the invitations! Since we’re entering the busy wedding time of the year, I’ve put together a few different styles for the upcoming cool season weddings to illustrate how your choice of invitations might work to set the mood of your wedding.
Blush and Rosegold Wedding Inspiration
This palette is for the girly bride! The one who loves pinks, beautiful flowers, and a touch of sparkly gold. You can never go wrong with gold, and I love the touch of gold foil on these save the dates! Naturally, I always suggest choosing a save the date with a photo. It’s a great way to personalize your stationery, and gives you something to use those engagement photos for!

Natural Winter Cranberry and Wood Wedding Inspiration
We actually photograph a lot of weddings in the holiday season. While the holidays are one of my favorite times of the year, you want to keep a holiday wedding classy and somewhat neutral – you don’t want it to scream Christmas! Natural woods mixed with some berries and cranberry tones would make a beautiful winter wedding without being overly Christmas!

Blue and Turquoise Watercolor Wedding Inspiration
It’s no secret that turquoise, teal, mint, and anything sea green are my favorite colors! I don’t see near enough weddings with these colors, so I thought it would be fun to include a mood board with something a little more untraditional for the cooler weather! I love anything sea or ocean inspired, and I think it would be a great way to warm up a fall or winter wedding! There’s no rule that says turquoise can’t be used in November and December! If you don’t want to go the bright turquoise route, mix it with a darker teal for a cooler weather feel. Or throw in a bit of red for a modern holiday color scheme!

Classic Black, White, and Gold Wedding Inspiration
I think I’ve already mentioned my love of anything gold! But to take it in another direction, I’ve paired it with a classic black and white. Black and white always says formal and sophisticated. Add in a little gold sparkle to add some “fancy,” or play up the holidays or New Year’s. Anemones make the perfect flower choice for this style! This is one color scheme that would work for anyone, any time of the year, but is especially beautiful in the cooler seasons!

I had so much fun playing on Paperless Post’s website to create these mood boards! And don’t let their name fool you. While they do digital designs too, they also offer their products in real, touchable paper! I love coordinating their cards and invitations with a custom envelope liner (they have TONS of options!). It’s just another way to make your invitation that much more personal and unique.
Another reason I love them? They are one of the few places that allow me to fully customize my cards and add my logo! Something to keep in mind if you have a custom wedding logo or monogram 😉
I hope you will give more attention to your wedding invitation and save the date choice, now that you know how important that decision is! Oh, and don’t forget to send an invitation to your photographer. They love to get mail too!
