07 Mar Behind the Scenes of Amy Hutchinson Photography | 2018 Edition
I’ve been wanting to do a Behind the Scenes post like this for years! Finally, last year I actually got organized enough to make it happen. Ever wonder what Ed and I are really like on wedding days? I’ve assembled a collection from last year that will probably give you a good idea. Keep scrolling for a few laughs!
Wedding days for Ed and I are looonnnggg. They are at least 10 hours of us on our feet, trying to make wedding parties laugh, keeping everyone cool, and shooting one thing after another. Sometimes things move so fast that we barely get time to set our cameras, much less think about documenting each other.
But once in awhile, we get a spare moment to snap each other in action. Truth be told, most of these are test shots that we take of each other to test lighting. But hey, we take what we can get! So over the course of last year, I’ve been saving and hoarding these rare instances that we capture each other on camera. Ed will likely appear more than me, as I take more photos during a wedding day than he does. He has other important duties other than taking photos on any given day, as you will see.

Some things you will soon notice:
- There’s a reason Ed and I are behind the camera and not in front of it!
- We will do just about anything to keep the energy going on a wedding day.
- There’s a big goofy, silly part to our relationship
- Most of these were never meant to see the light of day, which is why they are such gems!
- Ed is the best, and I’m so glad he puts up with me!
So let’s just jump right in, shall we? I call this one “a moody Ed under a stunning flower arch.”
Hey babe, think this floor can handle the Wobble tonight?
Ed, dress fluffer and ring holder extraordinaire.
Sometimes, ya just gotta stick out your tongue when there’s a camera pointed at you.
Okay, if you guys do not do this walking shot right, I will karate chop you!
Who’s more tired? Ed?
One of Ed’s biggest contributions to a wedding day is using our reflector as an oversized breeze-generating fan on hot days for our couples…
and bridal parties…
…but sometimes he gets lazy and makes the bride do it herself.
You ready to party?
Aw, the party’s over?
That one time Ed actually asked the cop to move his car…. AND HE DID!
All our couples deserve high fives!
Test shot? Or photo bomb?
Okay, so the way you walk is left, right, left, right….
I think he’s pretending to be a bride holding a bouquet….
If I’m good and pose just right, he gets me a glass of water.
When there’s a mascot at the reception and you’re photographers…
The fish was this big, I swear!
This is Ed’s pretending-to-be-excited pose…
…the salute pose?
…. the look-off-in-the-distance model pose…
…and the do these flowers make me look sexy? pose.
When we’re both caught setting our cameras…
I actually really like this one!
Hands in pockets or out?
You want me to move what now?
Does this car clash with my outfit?
Checking that timeline to make sure we’re on time (or maybe checking for Pokemon).
Let’s see if I can try one more time to be cute…. Nope.
I hope this post gave you a giggle! Is a behind the scenes post something we should do every year? Let us know in the comments!
