29 Aug Ellen + Bobby: a Memphis Spring Creek Ranch Wedding
Weddings are awesome. Seriously. Who doesn’t love a day filled with beautiful flowers, a gorgeous dress, meaningful ceremonies, and a big party? But I love it even more when we get a couple who remembers what a wedding is truly all about. A celebration of Love. With a capital L. Emotion. A new life together. Ellen and Bobby kept their day about all the important things and never forgot why they were celebrating. It was a day filled with lots of happy tears, tender snuggles, and lots and lots of love! It was awesome.
Ellen started the day off with one of the most calm demeanors I’ve ever seen in a bride! She was relaxed and just soaked in the moments with her bridesmaids. They joked and giggled, and kept the mood upbeat. I can’t even count the number of times Ellen went around the room, checking on everyone and asking them (including us!) if they needed anything. On her day. She was as un-bridezilla as they come!
Ellen’s dress was gorgeous! It was simple and classy, and looked as though it were made just for her! But the real stunner was the open lace back, which was obviously Ellen’s favorite part too!
It was a hot July day, but the weather couldn’t have been any prettier! The sun was out and cast a warm glow on everything. Ellen was all too willing to brave the heat for some bridal portraits in natural light. Spring Creek Ranch has a beautiful shady arbor that was perfect for photos while staying cool on a summer day.
That lace back though….
After the girls were ready, we traveled to the church on Collierville Square. Ellen and Bobby exchanged sweet notes and gifts. Bobby knows his bride well! He gifted her with a beautiful classic library.
Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready too, and we wanted to make sure to get some photos of them as well.
Ellen hand-embroidered this handkerchief for Bobby that she included with her note to him. I know it will be an instant heirloom. I loved it!
Both Ellen and Bobby had such a fun, thoughtful bridal party! Not to mention they were ALL good looking! Also, I LOVE Ellen’s bouquet! Garden roses are my favorite.
Okay. Ellen and Bobby are traditional, and they didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony (which we totally respect!). I’ve managed to make it over 5 years without taking the hand-holding-around-the-door photo. So when Ellen mentioned doing one, I was a little skeptical about this frequently-shot idea. But then Ellen explained that while she didn’t want to SEE Bobby, she really just wanted to take his hand so that they could have a private prayer before they married. I love nothing more than a little private time for a bride and groom on their wedding day, so I was totally on board after that!
We found a corner that would work well, and arranged for them to be near each other. Remember that thing I said earlier about Ellen and Bobby remembering to keep the most important things about a wedding day in the forefront? Yeah. This was one of them. The love they have for each other was so obvious, just from a little hand holding around a door! And let me tell you something else… it’s a little difficult to take photos with tears in your eyes!
I love this moment.
Just a few minutes later, and Bobby couldn’t hold back HIS tears when he saw Ellen coming down the isle toward him…
…nor could Ellen’s sister (and maid of honor) as she kept her eyes on Bobby! We were all crying tears of joy for them! Thank you, Ed, for this shot. You get a raise.
Ellen lay a comforting hand on Bobby’s cheek. Sigh.
Because of the heat that day, we didn’t want to keep the bride and groom outside for longer than necessary. Luckily, thanks to a gorgeous sunset on the golf course, we were able to get plenty of photos in only about 10 minutes. It helps that Ellen and Bobby are so in love! They just wanted to be together, and we were able to capture them with very little effort!
I’m funny. See?
But Ellen and Bobby had eyes only for each other.
The reception was decorated perfectly, and everything looked gorgeous in the setting sun.
The First Dance…
The reception was so much fun, and there was dancing all night long!
Ellen and Bobby, I love the way you love! Your wedding will always be one that I remember as one of the sweetest. If you approach everything in your new life the way you approached this day, only good things will come to you! Thank you so much for the honor of capturing your day, and for reminding us what weddings are all about. I can’t wait to see where you go from here! Cheers!
