25 Sep Andrea + Jimmy | an Oxford Mill at Plein Air Wedding
I can’t WAIT to share this wedding! It was a photographer’s dream! Not only were the details on point (can you say blush wedding gown, gorgeous flowers, and traditional Norwegian wedding cake???), but Andrea was the perfect, beautiful bride. Photos were very important to her, and she made sure that we got all the time we needed to create some beautiful art! Oxford is such a cute little town, and the perfect spot for this Fall Plein Air wedding!
Andrea is an artist, so I knew right away that no wedding detail would be ignored. She even hand drew all the art for the invitation suite, and the #harkweek (LOVE their hashtag!) drink cozies. When she told me she would be wearing a blush wedding gown, I’m pretty sure I squealed with delight. She paired the soft blush with beautifully neutral navy and slate for the perfect combination of both masculine and feminine wedding colors! Jimmy works with the Ole Miss basketball team, so there were plenty of sports references thrown in for him. Not to mention a LOT of very tall guys!
The Mill at Plein Air was the perfect Southern reception venue! It’s quite classy, with just enough rustic to make it comfortable without being country. Swanky marble mixed with exposed brick. Reclaimed wood mixed with high ceilings and fancy chandeliers. It’s Southern plantation meets high-class bed and breakfast, and I absolutely loved it! Andrea and Jimmy had it decorated to the nines, and it couldn’t have been any prettier!
But the best thing about Andrea and Jimmy? They worked with us and their wedding planner to make sure that we had PLENTY of time for photos! Not only did they agree to a First Look, but we also had portrait time after the ceremony AND at sunset! They made sure to have ample time for cocktail hour so that we could shoot all the reception details untouched (just wait until you see that room!). They completely trusted us, and let us do what we do best. We love them for that!
Okay, guys, sit back and relax, because this is a lonnnnng one!
Andrea was the third generation to get married in a blush gown! Choosing this Monique Lhuillier dress was a no-brainer for her, but she took it a step further with custom lace details! She wanted to make sure to get a photo of her gown with both her mother’s and grandmother’s blush wedding dresses, and I was totally on board. What a special detail!
I loved these boutonnieres! The berries and greenery were perfection.
Both grandmothers watched from a distance as Andrea dressed for the day.
Of course Andrea agreed to get dressed outside (instead of in the fluorescent-lit nursery in the church basement)! She’s the best.
Andrea and Jimmy shared such a sweet First Look.
I really don’t think there’s a bad place for photos in Oxford! Even the church grounds were stunning. This is probably my favorite shot of Ed’s!
Andrea did a First Look with her dad as well, and it was such a sweet moment.
I love this photo so much, because it’s the real Andrea (and look at that sweet way her dad is looking at her)!
I love Catholic weddings!
This little flower girl and I played hide-and-seek all day long. Caught ya!
Andrea wanted photos at Rowan Oak after the ceremony, so we made plenty of time to make it happen! I always love shooting here, and I think it’s one of the prettiest places in Oxford. Andrea and I were completely on the same page when she said she loved this tree-lined walkway. It’s my favorite part of the property!
The Junior bridesmaid had her hair done so that it looked like roses!
The light was so pretty! I love September!
Andrea, you make a stunning bride. <3
We wanted to make sure we got a shot of Jimmy’s polka-dot socks. Andrea said that’s as crazy as he gets! I loved his shoes too.
The Mill at Plein Air is the perfect place for a wedding reception (and if you need a place to stay near Oxford)! Andrea didn’t know it, but I LOVE long tables for receptions. I think they photograph so beautifully! The reception was full of them, and I had so much fun shooting this room!
The desert table was the prettiest one I’ve ever seen! They had an ombré bride’s cake, a traditional Norwegian groom’s cake (wrapped around a champagne bottle), and lovely cupcakes.
We made sure to run outside for just a few more portraits at sunset. I love this light!
The toasts were the perfect mix of heart and hilarity.
The First Dance…
Since the dancing went all night, they brought out pizza to keep the guests going!
The party was so much fun, and the dancing went on all night!
Andrea and Jimmy, we can’t thank you enough for the honor of sharing this special day with you. Everything was perfect, beautiful, amazing. We love you guys, and can’t wait to hear all about St. Lucia! Enjoy the honeymoon!
