01 Aug Stylish, Soft, Watercolor Wedding in Memphis
Catherine had seen my Instagram feed, so she already knew I was a sucker for succulents. She may have had an advantage before we even first spoke, though it was an unnecessary one. Catherine did not have to charm me by mentioning her mutual love of succulents. I fell in love with her right away for so many reasons, among them her honest love of marriage and commitment, her penchant for organization, her dazzling smile, and the obvious affection she felt for her fiancé. Although, a mutual love of succulents sure didn’t hurt!
Catherine and Trent designed a romantic day with a classic vibe. As they navigated the dreaming process, their plan evolved into a watercolor wedding, full of color in soft hues. The bridesmaids’ gowns were all a similar light blue shade with very subtle differences. They reminded me of a Monet painting when they were all standing together. The cake was a watercolor masterpiece, with the dress that Catherine wore at their engagement session as the inspiration for the design. Their invitations were bound with a dyed watercolor ribbon to tie everything together, giving guests a hint of the elegance to come. Oh, and did I mention there were plenty of succulents?

I already mentioned that Catherine is a special person, so it was no surprise that she made a dream bride! Early on, she and I worked together to build a timeline for the day that would give her and Trent lots of time and locations for photos. We created a stress-free day that rolled smoothly from one part of the day to the next. Catherine was a relaxed bride, and didn’t let a little rain on her wedding day upset her. In fact, the muted tones of the cloudy background produced a soft effect that complemented her watercolor wedding perfectly!
Catherine was lucky enough to experience three first looks on her wedding day! The first was a fun one with her bridesmaids, where they cheered with her when they were led in the room to see her in her lace dress. The next one with her dad was much more emotional. Catherine wanted some time to share tears and hugs with her father before becoming a wife. Finally, her First Look with Trent encompassed all the reactions from the other two! They surrounded each other with joy, laughter, tears, and a sweet embrace.
Catherine and Trent, we can’t express how grateful we are to have celebrated your union with you! This was a wedding day that we had been looking forward to for a long time! Even though it surpassed all of our hopes, we are most glad to have spent more time with you both, surrounded by your love. Enjoy this little sneak peek of your breathtaking watercolor wedding!
