12 Feb Erica + Danny: Joined | an Urban Memphis Wedding
Erica and Danny had so many friends and family stand up and speak for them over the course of their wedding weekend. As they spoke with love and admiration, one consistent theme gradually emerged. There were so many stories of Erica’s beauty, intelligence, confidence, and ambition, but especially how she is not prone to settling for anything less than perfection. She waited a long time for the right guy to come along, but she knew in her heart that Danny was the guy, as soon as she met him. Everyone knew she made the right choice, in the way she glows when she is around him, and in the way that he takes care of and complements her in every way. He was perfect for her, and she was eagerly accepted into his family.
As Catholics ourselves, Ed and I always love a Catholic wedding! The deep-rooted beliefs and the aged traditions make a Catholic wedding a beautiful way to start a marriage. Erica and Danny wanted to start their life together right, and the ornate Cathedral made such a gorgeous backdrop for their wedding day! But although they started with this very traditional ceremony, they weren’t afraid to get a little untraditional for the rest of the day!
Erica and Danny love downtown Memphis, and they knew they wanted that downtown, party feel for their urban Memphis wedding. We had a few hours between the ceremony and the reception to roam Main Street for lots of fun photos. The party at the downtown Memphis Columns went all night long, and everyone had a great time! Danny and Erica told us several times that their main concern for the day is that all their loved ones had a great time, and I know they accomplished that!
We couldn’t have started off our 2015 wedding season any better!
Erica included lots of special family touches in her wedding attire, including Danny’s mother’s snowflake necklace and a beautiful handkerchief given to her by Danny’s family. Danny loves the infinity symbol, and you can see a hint of the shape in Erica’s engagement ring, and in the bracelet that he gave her on their wedding day.
Erica, you made such a gorgeous bride!!
Danny wore his father’s Swarovski cufflinks and shoes that were gifted to him by Erica just that morning.
He also carried this family heirloom pocket watch.
Erica and Danny chose to see each other before the ceremony, so that we would have plenty of time for fun photos afterward. I love them for that!
Catholic weddings are fantastic for special moments like this:
I love the Cathedral’s architecture so much!
After the ceremony, we roamed Main Street for some urban Memphis wedding photos. There’s nothing better than a bride playing an outdoor, artsy piano!
The girls were all beautiful, and so much fun!
We had such a hilariously fun time with the guys too! Everyone kept the photos fun and adventurous, and I love that!
Naturally, we had to get some bridal portraits before the reception party started. I love all the colorful buildings in the background!
The Columns was gorgeous in shades of purple and gold!
The First Dance as husband and wife:
A couple hours into the party, Ed and I snuck upstairs for some shots of the dance floor from above. I’m so glad we did! Lucky for us, Danny and Erica chose that time to hit the dance floor, and Ed was able to grab this epic shot of a king kissing his queen!
The band kept the dance floor hot all night!
Erica and Danny, we are so pleased to have been a part of your beautiful wedding day! It warms my heart to see couples in love, and you two were meant for each other! I know you will have an AWESOME time in Europe! Say hi to the Pope for us!
